EXCITING FOR INTERNATIONAL
MODERN ARNIS FEDERATION OF THE PHIL.

The second quarter of 2009 turned out to be a little bit different and exciting for the masters and guros of International Modern Arnis Federation of the Phil. (IMAFP).

Of course, there were the usual classes, training sessions and seminars for Modern Arnis. Spearheaded by Master Godofredo Fajardo, the trainors of IMAFP produced a training program for Manila City Hall employees, under the sponsorship of Mayor Alfredo Lim. The program consisted of arnis techniques with a yantok or stick, as well as empty hands, including many takedown and control and restraint techniques that many of them might have to employ in the performance of their duties.

For the other event of the quarter, the masters and guros of IMAFP had to utilize both their martial arts expertise as well as creative and histrionic abilities to pull it off. They were hired as consultants to a reality show similar to many “Survivor” series you get to watch on TV. As you will see from the pictures, the results were realistic, entertaining and creative.

And finally, around the middle of June, Jay de Leon from the United States breezed into town.  Jay is the Commissioner for North America of IMAFP. Now how much more exciting can things get.

On a rainy evening on June 16, 2009, Jay hosted dinner and drinks for IMAFP at the Grilla Restaurant in Rockwell, Makati. Attendees included Masters Godofredo Fajardo and Bambit Dulay, guro Panni Nagen, and senior guro Bobong Burbano and Liza Limsiaco who happened to be in town visiting from Bacolod City.  Due to previous commitments, two other invitees did not make it, guro Michael Gubat and guro Jeff Nisnisan.

Until the next training camp, movie shoot or drinking party…
