SCUAA HOLDS SUCCESSFUL 2009 ARNIS TOURNEY
By Jay de Leon

On Feb. 12 – 13, 2009, the Schools, Colleges and Universities Athletic Association (SCUAA) successfully held its 21st arnis (Filipino Martial Arts) tournament at the Technological University of the Philippines (TUP) gym in Manila, Philippines. It was hosted by the Eulogio Amang Rodriguez Institute of Science and Technology (EARIST) arnis group.

The tournament Manager and Director was Godofredo Fajardo, a Senior Master of the International Modern Arnis Federation of the Philippines (IMAFP) and founder of Filipino Fighting Arts International (FFAI). For the tournament, the sports arnis rules as promulgated by IMAFP were implemented.

The turnout was huge, the contests spirited, and the sportsmanship and camaraderie between competitors were highly commendable.  It was a fun and learning experience for all.
