MINI-REUNION WITH THE POBLADOR TRIBE
IN SAN FRANCISCO, CALIFORNIA
By Jay de Leon
From mid-April through the first week of May, 2008, Mr. Honorio Poblador III of Manila, Philippines, better known as Baby Boy or BB to Luxids, took his tribe to their annual overseas vacation to Hawaii and then to California, U.S.A.
The tribe consisted of Baby Boy, wife Elo, children, daughters-in-law, grandchildren and one nanny numbering at fifteen at full strength.
On Tuesday, May 6, 2008, Manny Tiangha (aka Mr. Fantastic) and I took a flying trip to San Francisco, in northern California, to meet up with Baby Boy and his tribe, to the Westin Hotel at Milbrae, just outside San Francisco airport to be exact.
Manny and I flew out of Los Angeles airport (LAX) to San Francisco early morning and had a long brunch with Baby Boy at his hotel. Intermittently during our long brunch, we were joined by various beautiful people of the tribe (see photos).
After the brunch, we all went shopping at a nearby COSTCO, where the tribe went on a shopping spree for about more than hour. Baby Boy then chauffeured Manny and myself back to the airport for our return flight to Los Angeles, where we arrived at about 5:00 PM.
As the anti-climax of the day, that evening, several northern California Luxids invited Baby Boy for a poker session at David Ong’s mansion in Dublin, California. Scheduled to attend were locals David Ong, Vic Quimson and Teddy Abarquez, and Jake Campomanes all the way from Atlanta, Georgia. As for the outcome of this Filipino-style World Championship Poker tournament, you will have to check with one of these card sharks as to who hustled whom.
We love you, Baby Boy, Elo and the rest of the Poblador tribe.
